In the 80's I was 9-20.. and, yeah, "V" was pretty decent, though the movie was in some regards better than the series, but the series did at least give you a bit more sense of who these people were even if towards the end the writers started falling back on too many recycled ideas...

I thought the ending of the tv series was pretty lame.

If they (the tv folks) included the movie in the series then I did see it, but I don't think I saw it separate from that.

Perhaps it's one I'll have to add to my netflix list.

Nah, the TV folks veered pretty badly from the movie version in a lot of ways, though they did leave a few of the characters and story at least partially intact, and, yes, by the end of the series they'd thoroughly proven they simply had no further material in them, rather a shame really, the series had some good potential.

Former NASA astronaut and moon-walker Dr. Edgar Mitchell — a veteran of the Apollo 14 mission — claims aliens exist.

He says extraterrestrials have visited Earth on several occasions — but the alien contact has been repeatedly covered up by governments for six decades.

Mitchell, 77, said during a radio interview in Birmingham, England, that sources in the federal government who had had contact with aliens described the beings as "little people who look strange to us."

He said supposedly real-life ET's were similar to the traditional image of a "small gray" — short, slight frame, large eyes and large head.

Mitchell also claimed human technology is "not nearly as sophisticated" as the aliens' and "had they been hostile," he warned "we would be been gone by now."

A video that purportedly shows a living, breathing space alien will be shown to the news media Friday in Denver.

Jeff Peckman, who is pushing a ballot initiative to create an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission in Denver to prepare the city for close encounters of the alien kind, said the video is authentic and convinced him that aliens exist.

"As impressive as it is, it's still one tiny portion in the context of a vast amount of peripheral evidence," he said Wednesday. "It's really the final visual confirmation of what you already know to be true having seen all the other evidence."

When Peckman went before city officials this month to discuss his proposed ET initiative, he promised to show the video.

Peckman said the general public will have to wait to see it because it's being included in a documentary by Stan Romanek.

"No one will be allowed to film the segment with the extraterrestrial because there is an agreement in place limiting that kind of exposure during negotiations for the documentary," he said.

But people won't have to wait too long to see it for themselves.

"There is an open, public meeting in about a month in Colorado Springs," Peckman said. "We'll hope to do one in Denver at some point, and then in a few months, there will be the documentary that anybody can have, and it'll have the footage."

An instructor at the Colorado Film School in Denver scrutinized the video "very carefully" and determined it was authentic, Peckman said.

Peckman, 54, said the video was among the reasons he was "compelled" to launch the proposed ballot initiative, which has generated news as far as South Africa.

"It shows an extraterrestrial's head popping up outside of a window at night, looking in the window, that's visible through an infrared camera," he said. The alien is about 4 feet tall and can be seen blinking, Peckman said earlier this month.

In a statement, Peckman said "other related credible evidence" proving aliens exist will be shown at Friday's news conference, too.

In 2003, Peckman authored an off-beat ballot initiative that would have required the city to implement stress-reduction techniques. The "Safety Through Peace" initiative failed, but garnered 32 percent of the vote.

Man Dubs Lake Tahoe Creature Caught on Camera 'Leprechaun-Alien'

A Florida man vacationing at Lake Tahoe claims he caught a tiny, elf-like figure dubbed the "leprechaun-alien" on film as the creature was fleeing a forest.

The figure — who looks no taller than three feet — can be seen running from the trees just as 41-year-old Lloyd Deneau whipped out his camera to take a picture of the forest.

Deneau swears the image has not been doctored.

"When I took the picture I'm sure there was no one there," he said. "It was only when I downloaded it on my camera that I saw it. I showed it to my friends and family but no one can explain it. My kids coined it the 'leprechaun-alien.'"

He added: "I have a military background and don't really believe in aliens, but I can't explain this."

As well as an elf, leprechaun and alien, the figure has even been described as a baby Bigfoot.

"We didn't really know what they were. They were bright, red lights," Whippany resident Paul Hurley, a pilot who works at nearby Morristown Airport, told MyFoxNY TV. "They were just kind of floating along."

What Hurley, his family and dozens of others in Morris County saw were five flickering red lights, one as a pair and the other as a trio, moving across the sky.

"I've been in the aviation industry about 20 years, so I knew they weren't airplanes," added Hurley, who captured video footage of the strange lights.

"It was unsettling for sure," his wife Cindy Hurley told WCBS-TV. "It was something you've never seen before, and a very strange pattern."

The authorities, however, have a pretty good idea of what the UFOs might have been.

"We are reasonably certain, from what we were able to observe," Morristown Police Lt. James Cullen told the Bergen Record, "that they were red flares attached to a balloon."

Scientist: Alien 'Shadow Life' May Already Live on Earth

Aliens may be living among us, but we wouldn't know it because they'd be microbes that do not have the standard biochemistry of Earth-dwelling organisms.

As well as the many forms of life based on DNA that are known to science, the Earth may be home to "shadow life," a second creation of organisms that make up an unnoticed realm of "life as we don't know it," according to Paul Davies of Arizona State University, a cosmologist and theorist of extraterrestrial life.

Such "weird life" would never have been identified by scientists because the techniques we use for studying microbes are based on the familiar biological processes that drive the living things we understand, Davies told the American Association for the Advancement of Science conference in Chicago on Saturday.

The identification of such life on Earth could aid efforts to find life on Mars or elsewhere in the solar system.

A second terrestrial creation would also indicate that life arises easily when the conditions are right, suggesting that it is common throughout the universe.

The search for aliens should thus begin at home in a "mission to Earth," Davies said.

An Apollo 14 astronaut told a group of UFOlogists Monday that aliens are not a myth and called on the government to disclose its findings, The Washington Times reported.

"It is now time to put away this embargo of truth about the alien presence," Edgar D. Mitchell, who made the longest moonwalk in history, told those attending a conference in Gaithersburg, Md., set up by the Paradigm Research Group.

"I call upon our government to open up ... and become a part of this planetary community that is now trying to take our proper role as a spacefaring civilization," the 79-year-old added. "We are being visited."

Paradigm Research Group founder Stephen Bassett backed Mitchell's theory and demanded that President Obama's administration release all information concerning extraterrestrial beings.

"If it does not disclose, by the end of May - this is not a threat or anything, you don't threaten the United States government, they're heavily armed ... the PRG has an enormous and substantial network, and quite a bit of documentary evidence connected to this, particularly politically ... and we are going to be extensively putting that out to the media, and we're just going to make it as difficult on them as possible," Bassett told the newspaper.
