The Associated Press - BISMARCK, N.D.

Samples of deer, elk and moose killed during North Dakota's 2008 hunting season have found no sign of chronic wasting disease.

The state Game and Fish Department says samples were taken last fall from nearly 2,300 deer, 53 elk and 24 moose. Dr. Dan Grove, a department wildlife veterinarian, says officials also tested for bovine tuberculosis in the northeastern part of the state. He says the tests of 850 deer, moose and elk were negative for bovine TB.

The department says about 160 moose and deer have been tested for chronic wasting disease and TB since January. It says all tested negative for chronic wasting disease and bovine TB test results are pending. Deer in the western third of the state will be tested this fall.
